Cruise ships may continue to delay a return to sailings, but one line is confident there is still an appetite for travel on the horizon after its flagship Around the World in 180 Days itinerary sold out in less than a day.
While the date of departure is still two years away, the Oceania Line takes it as an encouraging sign that a return to cruising is still in demand. The response to our epic 2023 around the world voyage clearly illustrates the enthusiasm that experienced travellers have for immersive and memorable travel experiences, said CEO Bob Binder in a release on Tuesday.
KEY WEST â The Schooner Western Union, the flagship of the state of Florida and city of Key West, is far from its glory days of being the tall ship that once repaired the signal cable from Key West to Cuba and placed undersea telegraph cables throughout the Caribbean.
One of the last historic tall ships, the Western Union is iconic not only in the Keys but across the state, and the schooner is revered as a true part of the maritime history of the Keys and Florida.
However, the historic sailing vessel currently sits in dry dock at the end of Robbieâs Marina on Stock Island, being eaten away by the elements. Funding has all but dried up, like the ship itself, and no work is currently being done on her. No tarps cover her deck for protection. Rainwater is rotting the planks and the sun bakes her topside.

Navy: Duluth Commissioning USS Minneapolis-Saint Paul On Hold
The Navy had said back in the fall that the USS Minneapolis-Saint Paul was getting commissioned in May of 2021 here in Duluth. Today they issued a statement that the event has been put on hold.
The Navy went on to say in their statement that the ship is unavailable. Nothing to do with COVID. Hard to believe in these times that something is being put on hold because of another reason.
The USS Minneapolis-Saint Paul has a Freedom-class design defect. The Navy said it has to do with the bearings in the combining gear s high-speed clutch. It affects all the ships in production so they said it is something they are pursuing a fix for all the ships being built in the fleet. The Navy went on to say in the press release that once it finds the fix it will contact Duluth, Minneapolis, and Saint Paul to set a new commissioning date.
